- What level of play should my child be in?
The level of play that a child participates in is first determined by age or school grade, next by ability level, and lastly by physical size. The general rule is that kids age 5 & 6 play in our Rookie program, kids 7-8 play in T-ball, kids 9-10 play in B-ball, and kids 11-12 play in A-ball. However, these ages are just a guide. The important things to consider are whether or not your child will physically be hurt or hurt someone else if they participate in a certain level. Keep in mind that the ability to play the game at a higher level may not always mean that it is safe for your child to move to the next level. There is a significant difference between each level of play. Requests for a child to move up in level prior to the listed ages is possible but need to be submitted to the board and will be used as a waiver of liability.

- How does the $10 rebate work for multiple children participating in the league?
If you have more than one child in the league you will need to pay full price for one child, and then you can deduct $10 from each additional registered child.

- How does the scholarship program work?
The Lebanon Little League wants to see as many kids participate as possible, and we recognize that the fees associated with the league can be difficult for some families to come up, especially when multiple children are involved. The league has established a scholarship for families that request them and can waive partial or entire registration fees. Please make contact with a board member for further information. The board encourages families to utilize this option, but kindly ask that it not be abused.

- What is a stand-by roster for late registrants?
The league is forced to choose a date where team rosters are created and league structuring can be completed. On the date selected, usually the day of try-outs, the league decides exactly how many teams will be formed for each level of play, and then those teams are filled with as close to the maximum number of players as is reasonable for coaches to handle as well as fairness to the kids playing to see adequate playing time under league rules. Unfortunately this requires that no additional children can be accepted on a team after the registration cut off date. So the league created a roster for late registrations. The purpose is for the league to have a list of kids that are interested in baseball to fill positions if other children quite, move, become injured to the point where they will not return, or somehow are otherwise no longer available to their team. It is seldom that a child on the stand-by roster actually sees playing time during the regular season,
but stand-by roster players are eligible for summer tournament play even.

- What can I expect a regular season schedule to look like?
The season starts with a couple of clinics just prior to tryouts usually in the third week of March. Teams are created and practices for A & B ball start around April 1 indoors, and move outside sometime around week 2 hopefully. The first games for A & B ball are around May 1st, which is also when T ball practices start. T ball games start around the middle of May, and that is the time that Rookie ball starts. In the second week of May you can expect pictures to be taken and we host a 3-Pitch Tournament for our A ball teams as well as roughly 15 other towns. We have a fundraiser mixed into the season, and also conduct our Tag Day towards the end of May. By the first week of June we begin playoffs for A & B ball, with championship games wrapping up around the middle of June just in time for our annual picnic. Summer tournament teams start playing as soon as our regular season ends, and finish up around the beginning of August. Lebanon hosts a summer tournament around
the second week of July. The season closes out administratively with our annual meeting held in August. New officers are elected and the cycle starts all over again.

- What can I expect a typical weekly schedule to look like?
The typical week of baseball depends on the level of play your child is participating in. Rookie ball starts around mid-May and only plays on Saturdays. We have found that the attention span of the kids in the Rookie level is not long enough to actually schedule games, so Rookie league is more along the lines of structured practice. For A, B & T ball, you can expect to have a practice and 2-3 games per week. Depending on the coach, you may even see your child playing 5 nights a week if there is field availability. Times of practices will vary, but games on weekdays start at 5:45pm and last until dark in most cases. Games on weekends start at 1pm, and games may also be scheduled for 9am and 4pm also.

- When can I plan on taking vacation time if I do not want my child to miss out baseball?
August is the best month. The league season ends around the same time that the school year finishes, so as long as your child chooses not to participate in summer tournament play, you should have very little conflicts with vacation time and baseball. If your child does play on the summer tournament teams your best bet is late July into August.

- What is the change in the Little League official age date?
For nearly 55 years Little League had used the date of August 1st as the official date to determine a child's league age for play. However, 2006 was the first year that the date was changed to May 1st. This adds an extra season of play for several kids, so it does not hurt the children's opportunity to play. However, it has caused some confusion. The simplest way to look at the change is to ask yourself, What is my child's age on May 1?î The answer to that question is also the answer to what your child's "league age" is for little league.

- What are the rules about my child participating in multiple leagues?
The Lebanon Little League has no official rule that would prohibit any child from participating in multiple sports or competing in different leagues. However, the league would discourage either of these practices under the general train of thought that it would be too much for a child to handle, especially with the school year still being ongoing during the little league season. This mainly will effect kids that are 12 and are in the Junior High. The Junior High has a rule that prohibits kids from playing in multiple leagues, but even if it did not, the Lebanon Little League may chose not to accept a child that is also playing in Junior High baseball. Children playing in multiple sports are encouraged to chose one or the other if the schedules overlap for the entire season.

- Why are there so many forms to fill out? Are they all necessary?
Unfortunately, every form is needed and MUST be filled out. In order to use certain facilities, conduct administrative league paperwork, and receive permission or document acknowledgment from parents/guardians concerning certain issues, we have to have the forms filled out and signed for liability reasons

- How can I help the league?
Volunteers can cover many areas that the league needs help with. Coaching, umpires, team parents, field preparation & maintenance, concessions, and announcements are the bulk of the areas that we are always looking for help in. Time is the best and largest donation the league accepts, but every dollar taken in gets put to use as well. Tournaments are times where additional help is dearly needed.

- Why do games get cancelled at the very last moment instead of earlier in the day?
The league has a rule that no game can be cancelled because of weather until 4pm, but the league encourages coaches not to cancel until game time. The reason for this is because the weather changes so quickly in this area that many times games are cancelled at 4pm and by 5:45pm the sun is shining and the fields have dried out. Our season is pretty compact, and every game cancelled during the week means a make up game somewhere during the remainder of the season, usually on weekends. The league recognizes the time commitment that families have to give just to make regularly scheduled games. By canceling games at the last moment our hope is to alleviate the burden of additional games that would take away from the little free time the kids and their parents will have.

- Who do I make a suggestion or complaint to?
Everything should start with your child's coach. Coaches are the league representatives that are the most accessible to the parents because they are constantly with the kids. Suggestions about changes to the league, teams or anything else should be brought to the attention of the coach first. This goes for complaints too. Board members are available only after the coach has been notified but has not taken action or if the issue deals directly with the coach.

- What is a Notice of Infraction?
A Notice of Infraction is the direct result of poor sportsmanship. Unfortunately, the league has been forced to create a formal notice that can be issued to anyone that has acted in an inappropriate manner. Mainly this is for unsportsmanlike conduct, and typically this comes from the spectators. If a Notice of Infraction is issued, it will dictate specific infractions that have been noted as well as any penalties that the league deems fair to impose. The goal is not to even issue a Notice of Infraction, but it was created as a form of action available to the league if needed.

- Will there be pictures of the games/teams on this site?
Because we started this site around the same time as registration, we did not have time to research and find the Little League guidelines for posting
player's photos on the internet. Our first priority is the privacy and protection of our youth and for this reason we will not have photos posted this season.
However, after corresponding with the Little League of America Organization, we are in the process of reviewing our options in this area and hope to make this site even better next year.
Any comments or suggestions regarding this topic can be sent to the Webmaster. We are always interested in your opinion.

- Volunteering
We depend heavily on parent volunteers throughout the season. We are in need of help in various areas
such as concession stands, game announcers and score board operators. Every volunteer is appreciated!

- Uniform Guidelines
Every player needs a groin protective piece. Male or female. Mandatory for A and B ball.

- Where do I get my child's uniform?
Team hats, jerseys and sox will be provided by Lebanon Little League. We expect these items to arrive in late April. Player's pants will be the responsibility of the player. Players should be
fully uniformed by their team's first game. More information regarding where to buy pants and the expected cost will be posted when it is available.

- Do I need to register my child if they played last year?
Yes.
Even if they played at the same level, for the same team, for the same coach, in the exact same positions on the team, and every other member of the team is returning also?
Yes.
- When do registrations "close"?
A Ball and B Ball registrations close around tryouts day, please see related FAQ answer, but T Ball and Rookie Ball close at a later date due to the fact that their schedules do not start a month or more after the upper levels of play. T Ball registrations will typically close around the third week of April, and Rookie will remain open throughout the season.
- Does my child need to tryout?
Tryouts are for kids that are attempting to move up to a higher level of play, but are not required for kids moving from Rookie to T Ball. So, if last season your child played at the same level you want them to play at again this year, they do not need to try out. Kids returning to the same level do not need to try out, but they do need to submit a registration form.
